Hello just a few words on an experience that i have had in the last week

I like my older vw's - corrados and mk2 golfs gti's i have several of each all in various states of repair with one roadworthy

quite some time ago i bought a late mk2 16v already stripped with all parts boxed

I decided to start repairing it - it had previous damage to near side sill - full of filler and rust - i started to repair it but took a break from it but recently got back to it but having inspected my welding i was unhappy about it - it was strong enough but quite ugly - i had been using aftermarket panels and fitment to be honest not the best,
So i decided to hunt for a genuine VW panel - near side rear quarter - after several months searching i managed to find one being sold by a parts dealer in germany - via email i enquired to which they confirmed that the panel was new and that it was a genuine vw. We agreed a price and via bank transfer i paid 650 euros - roughly 2 weeks later a parcel arrived and upon opening it my heart sank and what was there i can only describe as JUNK - i had decided to do all my communication via email due to language barriers.
I have sent 2 emails demanding my money back but as of today not a reply. i fear the worst to be honest
Below are pictures of the panel that arrived - it has to be seen in person to see how bad it is - it even has an aftermarket label attached ffs - there are holes on the lips and various sections cut off
It looks as if it has been removed from a car - black paint slapped on and the inner side painted with some sort of sealant

The pictures were poor but what made me commit was that they stated 1. it was new 2. it a genuine vw panel
Remember these panels are at least 20 min years old (vw day they provide parts for 10 years after vehicles go out of production)
i would have accepted a few dents / scrapes or overspray but not crap like that which is only fit for the recycling skip

To be honest i would hate to start removing the slapped on paint GOD knows what i would end up with

Packed it up sent it back at my cost and due to its size cost an additional £120 FFS

Courier confirmed its delivery with date and time

Seller requested my bank details which i forwarded and then absolute silence

Despite numerous emails regarding my refund no replies and absolute silence

Packed it up sent it back at my cost and due to its size cost an additional £120 FFS

Courier confirmed its delivery with date and time

Seller requested my bank details which i forwarded and then absolute silence

Shocking behavior, but unfortunately common enough with some folk who just seem to get away with it. If the small claims isn't expensive it's maybe worth a try, but is it enforceable?

To be honest i have just put it behind me and hope what goes around comes around to this seller

This is the only bad experience i have ever had
I had bought cars and parts blind for the past 15 years and have only had good experiences and in many cases the goods have been better than expected

If i am ever in germany again i might be tempted to pay him a visit buy a dozen eggs and egg his windows / car !!!!
