Finally got it home tonight and I’m absolutely over the moon with the wee car. Very happy with what I’ve bought as it was purchased without seeing it or speaking to the owner.
2000 mk2 phase 1 clio 172
Only 63000 miles and all fully original
It had been off the road for ten years and came with ten years of shed dust . I took a few pictures of it how it came

I stuck a battery in it and put ten quid of fresh fuel in. Turned the key and away she went. Engine sounds spot on and ran for half an hour with no problems.

I gave it a good powerhosing then snowfoamed it rinsed and mit washes it. I used anachem purge on the wheels which worked great.

The car is in fantastic condition. No rust and only a few small car park dints which I’ll get dent devils to remove. The car seems all original and doesn’t look to have been painted. It has 4 new Avon tyres which haven’t perished at all. The outside scrubbed up great

Inside is bogging but all there and with minimal wear.
It also came with all the books and service book

Plans for it are get it sorted for MOT
I’m going to get new alternator, timing belt and water pump. Dephaser, new rear brakes. Fit the two new handbrake cables that came in the boot. Oil filters plugs.

That looks fantastic. Lucky man! Most are rotten by now. I'm guessing you've checked all the usual spots?

Have had a bit of a notion for a phase 2 172 or 182 for relatively cheap fun driving, always preferred the front of the phase 2 over phase 1 but that is a nice wee motor. The low miles and work your putting into it now will serve it well for a long time!

Cracker - did you get it at auction or something?

I buy lightly damaged cars and vans off copart fix them and sell them on as a sideline. I filter by year from 1985 up to early 2000’s once a week to see what older interesting stuff pops up. This caught my eye. It was a gamble as are most purchases from Copart but this one seems to have been a real good gamble to have taken. It wasn’t damaged or recorded. Some people just stick their cars in the copart auctions because it saves them any hassle trying to sell

Wow I was looking for Ph1s this morning and they are fairly thin on the ground!

That looks fantastically original!

Great find  looking forward to the updates. One to put away no doubt, had planned to do that with my 182 but has to make way for a baby wagon :sob:
