I recently purchased a car and the owner would like to keep the number plate which I’m happy to do , I’d already applied to put it on retention , does anyone know can I give the paperwork over to the previous owner even though it’s in my name ?

Pretty sure you need to add them as a nominee. Davy at procar may be able to help as he has quite a few plates up for sale that presumably are on retention certs

You do realise that you have to pay the £80 fee if you put the plate onto a retention cert. You can assign the plate to the other party - it's just a case of adding the nominee details to the site when you're filling out the personal details section. Any idea why the seller can't/won't do it?
