I’ve always been a Mini fan and have owned various over the years, R50, R56 Cooper and R56 FJCW.

I have been on the look out for a long term “keeper” in a R53 S JCW hatch but then I spotted this R52 for sale in England.

A few messages, videos, many many pictures, a long history to back everything up and a deal was done.

Fast forward a week and it was delivered home to me. Not in my mind did I have a notion of buying a convertible MIni but I felt this one could not be passed upon.

The spec;

2006 R52 MINI Cooper S JCW
British Racing Green with matching Green Convertible Roof
Factory JCW Engine Conversion fitted by John Cooper Garages
JCW Front Brake Kit
JCW Strut Brace
17” R90 BBS Split Rims (With 4 almost new Pirelli RunFlats)
JCW Leather Dash
Recaro Sports Interior
LSD
Chrome Line Interior
Etc etc etc...

Going to enjoy it for the rest of the summer, we have 2 small kids and they absolutely loved getting out in it the last few days. And it’s an absolute hoot to drive, the noise from the supercharger and the cracks of the exhaust with the roof down are addictive.

It arrived a little dull and lacking some shine so was tackled with Menzenera 3-1 on a polishing pad and 2 coats of Fusso Dark, just to add some life back into the paintwork, new decals ordered for the rear bumper and waiting on the V5 to get a private plate on.

Plans for the winter, supercharger service and gearbox oil change, refurb the wheels (undecided on the green) and replace the rear chrome roof trim as they have perished. Then as funds allow refurb the brakes and any other bits that need done or upgraded.

Huge thanks to @Sportspack Mark for his help, sorry for torturing you with all the texts.

Anyway, some pics...

That is lovely! Not too many factory JCW convertibles around. Has a cracking spec as well! HTD. Are you for the show in Newcastle tomorrow?

Racing green is lovely. Really well spec’d. I’d love the JCW leather dash in mine.

Well done finding that . Cracking motor. Gotta love the whine of the supercharger. Your neck will be sore for sure.

Very nice, looks to be in great condition. I'm sure it sounds well. Would have been a very expensive MINI when new! Strangely the green wheels do work, but if changing I'd maybe go like an anthracite to match centre of the dash.

The green wheels are definitely growing on me, will be Nov time before I get them done so plenty of time to chop and change my mind!

It’s in excellent condition & was VERY Expensive, I’ve been in touch with the supplying dealer and apparently it was just shy of £27k with the JCW extras 😮

Lastly a huge thanks to Robert @Bavarian Mini Parts, he was able to source a replacement JCW Certificate from Mini which was lost over the years. It’s now framed along with a very rare John Cooper Garages Flyer included in the cars paperwork.

Wheels are next on the agenda and going to stick with the Silver/Green theme 😎

Not much action for the Mini over the winter, it has been SORN and on trickle charge since early October and won’t be out again until end of March probably.

Its been hidden away in the garage and was out for a wash and run up to temperature.

Always had a hankering for some R95 JCW wheels, managed to pick up a full set recently which are going for a full refurb in time for summer.

Had the 18” R95 wheels refurbished and gave the car a quick wash today, delighted with how they have turned out.

Couple of things to sort before the summer and looking forward to getting the Mini out.
New vented discs for the front and hoping to get the calipers repainted.

Another job ticked off the list during lockdown..

The original JCW Sport brakes where looking a bit sorry for themselves, so I stripped them down, etch primed and painted chilli red. New JCW decals and a couple of coats of lacquer.

Drilled discs added they are now looking fresh.

Full service on the list next and to change the rocker cover gasket & crank sensor O ring to hopefully tidy up a minor oil leak.

Mini R52 JCW
Greets from Spain! First of all, congratulations on your car, it looks incredible in that color! Im having the opportunity to buy a an R52 that is pretty much like yours with Brembo brakes (from factory he says) and chrono pack from a friend that brought it from the US to Spain. The car looks amazing, I´ve never seen one with that many factory options really. He is selling it to me for around 6.812,92 Pounds he doesn´t know what he haves really, he is having a daughter and he wants to get rid of it ASAP. As there are not many like yours or the might future mine, i want to know how much are you expending on all the services? and fuel comsumption? Thank you very much for your time!
