Be interesting to see how the IRS pans out. A few have worked just fine, notably Colin McRae's Mk2 but the usual criticism is that the atlas is good for all the power you can put down and gives good traction but since this will be a road car, maybe the IRS will make it that bit more refined.

Every time I see this, I'm haunted by my polite refusal to join the team at Gordon Murray Design on a permanent basis. Best 6 months of my life. The design director said to "keep in touch" and I hope to return one day! Gordon's workshop could have built him a MK1 to his own specification, I'm a bit flummoxed as to why he went to these guys, though they are geniuses.... so, yeah.... I see why he did! lol

Edit.... I just received an e-mail (April 2018) from my old boss at Gordon Murray Design who said he's hopeful to have an offer for me in the near future! Fingers crossed.

Saw retro powers jag and cavalier at the classic car show in birmingham last year. The Jags class and the cavaliers paint job was great but the gold wheels and details chavved it a bit .
Their work seems a very high standard

I'd guess not much change from 75 grand for this project. I can ask him next time I meet him but he might be reluctant to share the information.

I just watched episode 5. The retropower geezer has interrupted Professor Murray quite a lot during all the recorded visits. Maybe it's due to excitement but someone needs to check him for it and Gordon is too polite to say something.

Looks like it will be a stunning build though.

I said the exact same this am as I was watching it.
He is just a bundle of nerves I think , but it’s a shame he can’t chill and let the man finish.

That aside this is a very enjoyable series, well shot and some serious skills

It does seem like nerves - but I sent him a mail to advise him to let the Prof speak! :grinning:

Enjoying this series.

I actually had contacted Retro Power about doing work on my 260Z, but the earliest they could fit me in was Jan next year, too long to wait, for sure everything would be done to perfection though, but I would really have to be there as well so from that point it wouldn't have suited.

The A frame spit they put the shell on looks like the simplest design compared to some I've seen.

Cheers

Sure is, guess it helps that its a light car, but their design does not allow you to move it around the shop.

I don’t like to complain cuz I know they are a business first and foremost but it would be awesome to see more of the skilled trades being executed on the shell , rather than “well now you can see we have completed everything we talked about in the last video” such a shame we saw none of that work, it was basically a quick video of the car as it sits and then Murray coming to inspect it for the rest of the video.

Panelwork is really tidy though as I'm sure you'd expect. Should be some weapon when it's done.
Would be nice to see more detail but I'm sure it takes long enough making all this up never mind having someone set up camera shots and takes for all the interesting stuff. It would take ages, sorta like Project Binky...
