His red turbo Mk2 with active aero system is insane (and more than worthy of an article itself) although don’t know if he still has it after his off at the cottage on Cairncastle last year.

Hopefully I’ll get to see this thing out on a few hills this year, it looks great.

Great looking car and so is his Mk2 Escort, great sounding as well. I remember being in the paddock at Kirkistown the first time Jim Hutchinson turned up with his SHP Escort RSR, never saw a car draw such a big crowd in such a small amount of time. They are awesome machines and are top of my lottery win wish list.

Sonny from SHP told me a lot about this thing when they were building it, literally a money no option ultimate build

Any idea what kind of money went into it? Suspension alone sounds expensive never mind what it probably costs, I'm thinking 5 figures and quite possibly still low balling!

No not a clue Rick, it’ll all be top notch though as Sonny and his brother Kelvin use the best they can find. Anything they’ve ever done for me came with custom made Nitron shocks

Surely this build must be up near the £200k Mark is it not .the engine alone must be nearing £40k .

I meant the suspension alone must have cost 5 figures haha. Could be wrong. Serious money though!

5 figures is from 10,001 to 99,999 so it’s a big scope to play with haha.its like playing with Monopoly money .the price of these things .

Big windows in SHP if this cost north of £200k+

I have heard what a few others have cost to build by SHP and they are of similar spec.

I'd intended a around the 10k mark, 4 way ohlins I imagine would be fairly pricey!

Personally if I had 250k to blow, I think I'd probably spend it on a one off rally build than a supercar

Interesting! May I ask why you'd do that? So you could have a car set up to your needs I take it?

I've much more interest in older cars so would love to have something built to drive like a mentalist, and knowing every component connected to the chassis would allow me peace of mind

You can't hammer a Ferrari or Pagani down a country road for fear of catching the underside or meeting someone and being forced into a ditch etc
