Shocking story. And there is no way on earth you should let that outstanding £6500 slide. They sound like professional cowboys.

Are you on Pistonheads? I'd post the entire story on there (assuming you haven't done so already), they have a massive UK user base and that would really make Coys sit up and take a bit more notice.

Well funny you should say that. I was contacted last night by the editor of a certain German classic car magazine and a UK reporter both putting stories together regarding Coys and have asked to contact me.

I think it’s likely they never had the money to pay you. And they were just delaying it until the next auction. After their auction in Germany you got paid.
Perhaps there’s sellers from the German auction are still waiting on payment and will now have to wait until after their next one.

I wonder if there’s any truth to this.

Hi,

Coys are doing the same to me and i cant get paid or get my Lamborghini car back, can you help me by telling me what solicitor you used?

How do they keep getting away with this? Crazy.
Hope you get things sorted.

They simply do because not enough people making it known what they are doing. I've actually had my post deleted from a few car related forums as they are afraid of it being slander but have NOT read the full article and understood that all of it is direct quotes etc.

So sorry to hear you are also in this situation.
I take it you have been through the whole "we are doing all we can to get you paid but the MD isn't available to sign the cheque". They can pay by direct debit, its just stalling ploys.

The only advice I can give you is document every single contact you have with them, do as much of the contact as you can through email so it is recorded and please do contact Neil neil@boydricesolicitors.com because if hadn't been for his help I most likely would still be chasing my money.

If you want to chat about it PM me and I'll give you my number.

There were some very shady tactic used in their conduct, when you read back at their first contact what they were offering was almost too good to be true but i suppose that's how they reel them in.

They almost had us for a couple of cars that were to be sent over, offers too good to pass on, thankfully my step dad wasn't keen on certain aspects of how they conduct themselves and pulled the plug.

See there is similar happening in the Porsche world atm, in the North of England. Seems to be lots of bad publicity around a couple of places, including one Specialist Cars place that's been on the go forever.

Guess the moral of the story is to trust no-one. Easier said than done.

Just been contacted by another person who's car was sold last week, less than the agreed reserve and has been told they won't be paid until the 35 days are up. Owner contacted them to say as the car did not reach reserve they were going the next day to collect it. They were told the car is already on a transporter bound for the USA.

Dear All,
Thank you for the information shared in this chat. Unfortunately we did not read this before selling a car at auction in Germany to coys of Kensington. We are now preparing for legal civil action as 1. The payment terms and amount were not fulfilled in full and 2. Compensation for time spent chasing payment, receiving a check payment later than the 6 week payment agreement time, time to cash the cheque and the overall inconvenience of dealing with a clearly fraudulent car dealership.
Although I sold my car through auction to Coys as a private individual, I own a large dealership in Germany and my lawyers are well experienced with dealing with receiving payments of wrong amounts (even though this payment is only a couple thousand short we will still be taking full legal action and seeking additional compensation for the above mentioned reasons ). My question is: has anyone used a solicitor against Coys in London that is already briefed on this company’s fraudulent dealings before? We are taking action in both German and British courts and are in the evidence collection phase so wanted to ensure we reached out to others who have had problems with Coys beforehand to see if there is a solicitor who has dealt with cases from them before.
Best regards,
Andy (name anonymous due to pending future case)

Many thanks - we are waiting to see if the initial cheque for the wrong amount liquidates before determining the extent of our suit but will keep this on file thank you
