I have a 2004 Nissan 350z GT for just over 10 years (one other owner) and its been a great car to drive.

The car has developed rust on the panels (over each of the wheel arches) and the front bumper has some damage. Ive been away from home (Armagh) a lot over the last two years and havent got much use from it (around 120k miles on the clock). The car has just been MOT'd a few weeks ago and I am debating whether to sell the car as is, or fix the rust and bumpers and then sell it. Ive never sold a car before so was hoping that you guys might be able to give me a steer on what to do (merits in addressing the rust/or selling as is) / where or who to sell it?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

With a performance/specialist car presentation is everything when selling but if your are looking for a quick sale you can price it at the lower end and be honest about its condition in the ad.

You will be in the region of £600-800 to fix that properly so just weigh up the resale on a tired one vs a clean example.

What general condition is the rest of the car in or wheels, seats etc. If the wheels are kerbed or corroded, seats loosing colour, sagged etc these will play as much a part in resale as the body itself so addressing body alone might not be far enough to ask top dollar.

Thanks Big Pete.

The car has new tires and the interior is good. I was thinking it would be a good buy for someone who could do the body work required for a sale as opposed to doing this myself given my lack of experience.

Would there be anywhere (online or someone who might be interested) that you would recommend that I try and sell the car as is and would you have any idea of ball park figure I should be aiming to get for the car. Really appreciate your advice.

Just stick it up on gumtree with plenty of pics and a detailed description. You will get a lot of lowball offers but just takes that one right person

A 350 in decent condition without rusty arches and 120k on the clock would be worth about 4k, maybe less over here as people seem terrified of none diesel engines, never mind a 3.5. With rusty arches it wouldn't be that much less, maybe £3500 but would be a bit harder to sell. The rear arches are double skinned, so if the rust has got in between, it's virtually impossible to get rid of and the panel isn't removable like the fronts, it's welded to the chassis.

Thanks Big Pete and Kyle. I think I'll see if I can get a quote on the rust work and see what that looks like. Kyle - any suggestions on any other options where I could sell it (a part from gumtree - thanks Big Pete) as is?

I’d stick it up on the free sites mentioned above and if that doesn’t work after a couple of weeks, try Autotrader and UsedCarsNI. It probably won’t shift too quickly so I’d try avoiding UsedCarsNI the best I can because it’s extorionate to advertise on compared to others.
