Had a quick search so apologies if I missed it being asked before.

How does it work for a private sale now when selling from the North to South?

I've a guy wanting to buy a motorbike, but saying that the taxes need paid as the bike was only brought into NI after 1st Jan 21? When I googled it I found much the same with it saying evidence would need shown that customs duties had been paid when the vehicle was brought from GB to NI?
This doesn't happen on a private sale so what needs to happen now?

Or is it just a case of filling out the export part of the V5 as per before?

Sell it if he wants to proceed & fill out your Export slip as usual.

But yes, he will probably be hit for additional tax on import. Not your issue!

That's what I thought, and also what he was saying. Think the fact he'd have to pay the additional fees is putting him off ffs.

Apparently if I can provide proof that it was properly imported to NI from GB then he won't have to pay, but then sure all we do is get a new V5 is it not? Unless I can produce a T2L document, which is only for traders and consignors apparently? It's a minefield ffs
