I hate picking colours, there are so many to choose from, lol.

Sticking to one or two throughout sounds like a good idea. Sticking to "simple" colours also sounds like a good idea, easier to find matching materials should you need to make repairs later on.

For all the size of the material needed on door cards, it was £200 for material, not big money but still expensive for all it is and I didn’t want to be redoing it plus having the wait for another 2-3 weeks
I think il strip head liner out and look into dying it and purchase good quality black floor mats to go with the rest.

Driver door card had a trail burn mark in it which bothered me a lot also

There is two small material sections at the rear seats also that I didn’t get retrimmed as the condition is perfect.

So to match I bought Autoglym Back dye.

Test piece with only one heavy quick coat (I think il do a lot less per coat so it’s not soaked but this is why I thought I’d try on a test piece first:

Depending on how this looks… I’m considering doing the headliner black also (leaning towards retrim thou as it’s such a big area)

Black mats are a must now also.

Il see how this drys and compare…i may just get the rear retrimmed also instead dying.

For all the dye cost, I like to feel useful and having someone else do all the work takes the fun away 🤣

You'd probably be better off just getting them done the same as the rest. Matching colour, materials, etc.

But hey, worth having a go, if it works it works

Was it awkward to do? I'm tempted to do something similar with the scoob to freshen it up a bit

Not the hardest… getting the correct shade is the tricky bit it seems.

Then you have all the small trim pieces and lights that need changed/recoloured also.

should look well when built back up… I hope 🤣

I completely unscrewed a screw on the back of the rear view mirror… trying to dismantle it for prep/spraying earlier this week.

This was supposedly a big no no and the whole internet says once the screw is undone it can’t be done (which is what it seemed) and bin the mirror as it’s a sealed unit…

I finished paint etc and went to put screw etc together few days later and it wasn’t happen due to screw not going anywhere!

Hmmmm, I don’t like to be beat…

Oven on, heat mirror, flex/remove glass, fix the mechanism for screw, oven again to heat up to correct slight flex temp, pop glass back in. SORTED 🤣👍

Looks like you are doing a fantastic job mate. What interior paint and headliner dye are you using? It’s been a job on my zed I’ve been putting off (I do not like the cream headliner lol)

Autoglym Black dye & satin black spray.

A lot of taping up and plenty of OCD overload moments but it’s coming together.

Still haven’t touched the seats, gona get roof etc built up and see what way it looks before jump into the next stage.

Stressful enough because parts aren’t easily replaced 😅
