Bought this fine example of a Smart fortwo, no keys, Cat S damaged.

I seem to have a thing for Smart cars, they keep turning up in my driveway in all shapes.

It was very cheap... and i needed something to occupy me... Will make for a decent wee runabout!

Here is the progress so far.... firstly the spot I dragged it from and back home after a wash. Couldnt get it off the trailer with no keys, as its semi auto its in gear when ignition is off.

Had some tasty damage to the A pillar skin....

Someone had ripped the radio out also, i have this lying in the garage from another Smart I used to have so stuck it in...

Next up was getting it running, ordered up some blank keys of ebay, swapped the ignition barrel out and coded them with MB Star. Runs like a sewing machine... perfect.

Wee pillar repair and a coat of paint to tidy it all up next...

I always fancied the bike engine conversion but its not ideal with no reverse gear and dont really want to chop the whole rear end up to make it work lol

racecar! I had a white one recently myself, albeit an MHD and not a Brabus! Like sitting in a go cart at the best of times, double the HP would make it interesting im sure!

Looking good, amazing how easily something is written off these days.

Are your insurers a bit funny with cat s?

I wanted to buy a very cheap mg zt190 that was cat s (£450)

The back bumper and crash bar had been replaced,,I saw no issues in boot floor structure etc. My insurance wanted an engineers report before they would insure it. £350 for the report, so had to walk away

No issue with insurance. Not sure who you are insured with but i have never had an issue. As far as I was aware, engineers reports are a bit antiquated now, a fresh MOT is usually more than adequate.

Hughes, unwritten by AXA I think, this was late 2020. The cat s was from 2017

Annoying and weird

I just dont have anywhere suitable really, dont want cars/tools etc covered in overspray in the garage. A bit of bodywork is bad enough with the dust! lol

The cleaner the environment, the better the paintjob iv found. one of those blow up booths would be a good job if you had the shed or building to stick it up in!

I'd love to take a drive in one of the 1,5 Turbo Brabus ForFour models. They're super cheap for what they are, and reliable enough with the Mitsubishi underpinnings

Smarts are a car that have definitely grown on me
