Just passed one on the Glenshane pass near the Castledawson roundabout on the bike.

Wasn’t flying but might have been a bit over the limit when first seeing it.
Slowed to 60 when passing it obviously.

The operator was running back into the van as I was passing.
Probably to make sure he got my plate!

I take it these things have a forward facing camera too?

Hopefully don’t get a letter in the post 😟

Good man for the heads up! Just found an article which says they do have a front facing, have spoken to camera operators though who say it can be tricky to get a vehicle if it gets on the anchors soon enough

I've heard they have forward facing cameras an all.

Best thing to do if in doubt is to turn off before the van if possible, or get off and wheel it backwards up the road until out of sight, turn it round and feck off in the other direction 😂

Should've pinned it if he wasn't in the van 😂

Camera vans here have a camera in the rear. Forward, or out side windows depending how dangerously they decide to park. Never heard of one trying to view out the front.

the front camera is effectively just a high resolution digital camera on a fixed mount that starts taking photos or video if the Speed camera is triggered...then i believe they use the time stamp to match everything up....high enough resolution to pick out any clothing badges or small stickers on a bike for those who try to claim it wasn't them.

Yeah by law i think they have to letter box you within 14 days.

NIP only has to be issued from them within 14 days, and when they claim they've issued it, bizarrely it is deemed a fact that you received it. Which of course makes no sense.

There are also many excuses they can use outside of the 14 days.
