Some cars come out of the factory with slightly stretched tyres specified also, don't think there is definitive info on whats what

That PDF is very vague. Doesn't state that the tyre should be within the tyre manufacturers specification. Just gives 2 tyre sizes (no specific brand) and numbers saying which width of wheels they could fit. And shows a very extreme example of stretch on a tyre.

Why doesn't it say that slight stretch actually stiffens the sidewall, therefore making the tyre more resistant to coming off under hard driving. Why do you think professional drifters run stretched tyres? Two sides to everything.

Absolutely it does not. And drifters will do it because it will slide easier and more progressively making it more controllable for drifting. They may claim it is for other reasons if they dont understand what happens the tyre, but it certainly isnt to prevent a tyre coming unseated.

Because a tyre stretched is more likely to come off than one that isnt stretched...why do you think these dodgy tyre places that fit big stretches have to use adapted air blast type guns to get the tyre seated in the first place ?

It doesnt state what brand, because manufacturers might have slightly different designs and specs

No, because the tyres are the wrong size for the rims. The valve sits where it is designed to sit. Same as every wheel

It's because the tyre sits below the valve therefore the air isn't getting into the tyre it's just blowing above the wheel,
Some standard size wheels and tyres require a bead blaster for this reason, the tyres arrive with the walls Bent inwards
The valves on my wheels are deeply inset so I didn't need a bead blaster

The tyre may sit below the valve....because the tire is too narrow !

No factory standard wheels/tyres ever require this that I have ever seen

It does happen had to get one blasted on the wee escort van, standard wheels and tyre size three went on perfectly and the last one wouldn't seat without being blasted no idea why but went on and never had a problem since.

It's probably because as high profile tyres are stored, packed for transport etc the tyres get squeezed a bit and the walls cave in a little as there Un supported. This makes the tyre narrower until it's on the rim and inflated.

This means the the bead blaster needs to be used, or some other form of blowing the bead out very very very quickly

It does not affect the tyre in any form

That makes sense never thought about why it needed it really, just thought it was south mentioning when Stevie said he had never seen it used on standard sizes, granted would say he is talking about lower profile car tires which would make sense as going by the above the lower profiles should not be affected as badly if at all

Had to use bead blasters on 4x4 tyres before and I can assure you that there was no stretching involved with those!!!

Had an interesting chat with the mot manager today, it failed last night on stretched tyres, however there was a civic beside me with a lower width tyre on the same width of wheels which passed, so their still is inconsistancy with testing, however he assured me after me bringing it to light they would be rolling out a poster in all 15 test centres about stretched tyres, yes they are illegal and they will not pass mot.

Falkens do stretch very nicely as well.

It will not be the end of it at all, people will always chance it.

I wouldn't choose to have stretched tyres on the rims for the golf, but the fact I nought them with the stretched tyres nearly new, there staying on till I either get stopped or mot.

Also they are a small stretch

Which centre was this?

I passed a few months ago in the civic no problem with 195s on an 8j, and the wheels on my mx5 are running a bit of strech (nothing stupid mind you!) and Its up for mot soon so might just shove on another set to be safe!
