Some cars come out of the factory with slightly stretched tyres specified also, don't think there is definitive info on whats what
That PDF is very vague. Doesn't state that the tyre should be within the tyre manufacturers specification. Just gives 2 tyre sizes (no specific brand) and numbers saying which width of wheels they could fit. And shows a very extreme example of stretch on a tyre.
Why doesn't it say that slight stretch actually stiffens the sidewall, therefore making the tyre more resistant to coming off under hard driving. Why do you think professional drifters run stretched tyres? Two sides to everything.
Bead blasters, why do you think these dodgy tyre places that fit big stretches have to use adapted air blast type guns to get the tyre seated in the first place ?
I
Bead blasters,
Because the valve doesn't sit deep enough
No, because the tyres are the wrong size for the rims. The valve sits where it is designed to sit. Same as every wheel
It does happen had to get one blasted on the wee escort van, standard wheels and tyre size three went on perfectly and the last one wouldn't seat without being blasted no idea why but went on and never had a problem since.
Had an interesting chat with the mot manager today, it failed last night on stretched tyres, however there was a civic beside me with a lower width tyre on the same width of wheels which passed, so their still is inconsistancy with testing, however he assured me after me bringing it to light they would be rolling out a poster in all 15 test centres about stretched tyres, yes they are illegal and they will not pass mot.
Which centre was this?
I passed a few months ago in the civic no problem with 195s on an 8j, and the wheels on my mx5 are running a bit of strech (nothing stupid mind you!) and Its up for mot soon so might just shove on another set to be safe!
