I’ve been told the car has an mot extension until June, no paper proof of that though but does say mot’d on the vehicle checker . Swansea is closed and Coleraine don’t want to know, can I just go to a post office with insurance and V5 and get tax or am I beaten?

Can I just blah it with printing out the above?

Before all the extentions and covid I went to the mot centre about a replacement certificate as the car I bought didn't come with a certificate, they said it would be 4 weeks or so to get it and bascially printed the above off their website stating the car had mot, and said hopefully that will allow you to tax it in the post office, which it did, didn't even question it.

Volvo's!
It must be 6 years now since actual certificates have been issued. Just walk into a post office with a V5 and insurance and ask the nice person behind the counter to tax the vehicle. Only time you need to provide evidence is the day the car passed MOT
