Taxing my new car

I purchased a car at the weekend from a private individual. I am aware the rules have changed and car tax no longer transfers with the car.

How do I go about taxing the car and what documents do I need as proof of ownership?

Make sure you print the insurance certificate as they won't look at it on your phone or emails as I found out last week.

Bump to this thread, how long would you leave ringing the DVLA to query it not showing on their records? I checked mine this morning, taxed yesterday at lunchtime, and it's not showing yet.
