To be honest the GT4 is an amazing car, but it's also hamstrung by Porsche. For starters the gearing is just nuts, it does 80mph in second gear, lol. There are other things they've done to neuter it too, as otherwise it would run circles around the GT3.

Do you really want to spend 80-90k on a car and then find out it's not as good as it could have been? Or spend 80-90k on a car and then drop in after-market gear sets and whatnot to get the best out of it?

The engine is spectacular though!

If I had the money I'd still get a GT4, then do all the race mods to unlock it, that would be one amazing Porsche! But I don't so I won't 😇 😅

For 90k you're knocking on the door of a 991 GT3. It's a more rewarding more usable car on track and more importantly on the road.

Yep pretty sure that’s a 992, really not feeling the love for these at all, I struggle with the 991 a bit too but not nearly as much as these.

The only colours I’d consider are black and grey! Nearly the only colours I’ve ever owned with a couple of exceptions.

I lend you my man math calculator if you like?

I could maybe use that too if it’s available lol.

Joking aside, how do people feel about buying from a reputable dealer v a private sale.
I’ve found a good 996 turbo but I think he’s 5k to strong for a private sale. Could be wrong though.

I’ve my eye on a private sale one tbh, it’s strongish money but has a full opc history, ifs it’s still there next April I’ll possibly make a move on it as I know I shouldn’t have much of an issue putting a 2 year warranty on it, I know the seller is in no rush and is not going to take a low ball on it so I could possibly sit till then!

I’d not have an issue buying private tbh as long as I got a full specialist inspection, they are not cheap so you would have to be pretty sure of the car but they are very comprehensive and would, I feel, give good piece of mind.

History and condition is everything on these, if I buy it will be a keeper, I don’t think I’d I’ll go nuts and buy something super low mileage as I want to drive it and as soon as you start racking up the miles that big premium you paid for a garage queen just disappears quicker than you can can empty a tank in a tt.

Once you go over 30k miles there isn’t as much of a variance on price, under 30k you can just add thousands onto the price as you go down in mileage! That 20k difference in price could sort a lot of stuff out if it did go wrong!

At least with a turbo there are no massive reliability issues. Do they suffer the same coolant pipe problem as the 996's?
