I went to test drive a silver EK9 one day, it was a really clean car and it went really well. I had a test drove a JDM DC2 the same day and I went for the DC2 based on the B18C under the bonnet. I always regret not buying the EK9 but the engine sealed the deal!

That sounds like a cracking car you'd want to keep standard.

Coming from a man who heavily modified a 205 :scream:

Well like I mean it's caged and has PTS suspension etc. Itll be getting a group a exhaust, weld in cage to group a design and decals to match the Peugeot dealer team France group A car! If only I could find PTS 13 inch wheels....

But no engine swaps. The period group a cars were squeezing 130 brake or so out of them which would be fun considering the road cars were 790kg!

The B16B is a great revving engine but so dead off vtec. Can see why you were swayed by the B18c.

Might get laughed off here but my first car was a Ford Ka, with the suspension modified etc was a cracking little handling thing, it was quite a good handling car in standard format, just had no power, I was going to drop a puma 1.7 engine into it but decided against it in the end up, wish I had of in retrospect, would have been great fun.

I had a Ka as a courtesy car when my rx8 was in at Mazda many moons ago, it really was like a little go kart. Rust has killed them now. I'm sure there was a cossie one back in the golden era of max power.

A few lads I know have a few swaps, c20xe in a mk2 golf, c20xe in a mk4 escort, c20let in a manta, Saab b203 in mk3 Astra etc, I had a 1.7 powered mk4 fiesta was an ace car to drive and filled the clocks with ease

Corolla G6 only had a 4AFE 116bhp never understood why a blacktop 4AGE or 3SGE was never thrown into one of these very capable car.

Uncle has always talked about doing this through the Mk1s, 2s 3's and 4s he has restored but he is too much of a purist to go past the talking stage!
I know it's been done before but I've always had the notion of making a Proton Persona Evolution (Mitsubishi Evo engined) for whatever reason.

Ive been tempted to stick in the MK1 RS Focus engine but i think i would end up pulling the wee car apart!!

3 that were on my bucket list from school days:
Clio Williams
CRX VTEC
205 GTI

Only one I'm missing is the 205. Never looked in direction of early Golf's for some reason.

If I had any know how about engines and mechanics I'd probably have several half finished projects of odd engine transplants

Same here. Guy who worked with me for many years had a lovely red G6, very smooth car to drive and a great chassis in them but severely underpowered, could never understand why they didn't throw in a high revving Vtec-style lump considering Honda were doing something similar around that time with the Civic. Maybe it's a Toyota trait, GT86 has had the same complaints levelled at it - great car to drive but why can't it have another 50bhp at least?

A Civic with a B18 Integra R engine is still on my to-do/bucket list but the older I get the less likely it becomes!

Most of my motoring years has been spent in hot hatches the only one I failed to own for some reason was a 205gti and some say it's the best. My fiesta turbo for noise and general chav ness. Revy vtis were also asbo tastic but my favourite and based on current values I think the phase 2 172 clios are a great drive. 182 looks silly with the exhausts but the exhaust less look of the 172 and the fact a grand buys one makes it my fav. I'm personally just too old and unwell to live with one anymore.

Always wanted to build a H22A7 Mk3 Golf GTI.

V8 E36 was another swap I wanted to do.

Both cheap bases, with relatively cheap donor cars that I could've done more or less myself.

Did put an RB25 in an S13 which was fairly scary to drive!

Surely that would be really front heavy!!! A car that size with the big V6 up front

#understeercity

There were only a 2.5 or so weren't they? It may be a V6, but it's not a massive engine as such. The Golf Mk4 managed a 3.2 V6, as did the TT. And there was the Mazda MX3 V6 also.

It adds a little weight to the nose yeah, but I wouldn't imagine it's so bad it would result in extreme handling differences. Might help traction if anything.

Would have liked to have seen the Mk2 Fabia get a 2l engine, golf gti or something, and big flared arches to look like the Super 2000 rally cars. A hardtop version of the one below, or even the one below.

Only on a badly set up car. I can lift a kv6 minus gearbox by hand even if it's a awkward ****er, it's only 15kg heavier than k series minus gearbox.

The amount of subframe work needed usually equates to a lot more stiffening to point you don't need a top mount stiffening bars etc.

Tyres have always been key on zr. Also wit the pg1 box fitted you have a range of diffs that solve more of it.
