Also,

I needed the Spherical bearing top mounts from an Escort made fit the Triumph struts, so the machinist made me up some top mount nuts with extended shoulders to suit the ID of the spherical bearings & to raise the front ride height slightly had a 30mm spacer.

Time for me to get the car away for its final batch of Fabrication before paint (y)(y)

Dropped these Struts off to have the Bells Made and Mounts adjusted in the Middle of December.

Got them back today, Any wonder this car is taking so long..

Another Item Ticked off the List

So they are Leda struts with Alloy Hubs machined to Ford Group4 Fitment,

Alloy Bells, 2piece 18mm vented 288mm Discs, with a 6pot Caliper from a Jade Racecar that all work under a 13" wheel (y)

It may not be a final build...but did they really send them back with the calipers bolted on like that ?

Love that you're sticking to the small 13" wheels, very appropriate 👌

I've been told it won't work on 13's but I'll have a go with them, I've 3sets of them here to suit her.

I've run 13" on all my cars, although this is the heaviest.

Finally got the Front Suspension Installed and the car back into the Garage. I was really worried the car was FAR too low for use on Hillclimbs or On the Road.

Front Suspension with 30mm Spacer has worked nicely combined with a Taller profile on the Rear tyres (Closer to Road & Track Profile i'll want to be using)

It's raised the car about 25mm all round, which increases the Bell housing clearance to about 75mm (still low but should be useable)

75mm is still pretty low. The Hondus has around 100mm clearance at the front and just about clears speed humps and entrance curbs. Still gets caught in the middle some times, catching behind the front wheel arch.

Should be ok-ish for hill climbs, not too many speed humps there :innocent:

Yes its still Very low for my Liking, but the Previous 50mm was just a None Runner for the Road.

75mm should be ok, ideally i'll need some kind of guard under there.. 8-(

I Should have expected really with the Dry Sump and Engine set so Low.

Any chance of a smaller flywheel to lift it up a bit along with a geared starter?

With the adaptor plate ive used to install the Tractive Box, It uses an Alloy flywheel of much smaller in diameter and separate Plate with the Ring Gear.

If the Ring Gear plate got a wack it wouldn't be the end of the world! It would only bend out of shape rather than break the Crank!

;) Got the jist ok. (y)
It would be another bespoke item which wouldn't be cheap or easy to sort but it would get you the clearance where you need it. Guess you can see how you fare with the 75mm before doing anything else. Must be getting close to painting time now..

Actually I was lying, Princess is only ~70mm under the nose. So you're probably ok. But she has a round nose and almost zero overhang, no chin spoiler or anything like that.

It will be Finally ready for Paint in around 4weeks (y) Also getting the 1st Fix of the Wiring loom, fuseboxes, Switch Panels etc in the next week or two.

I've Been Speaking to WJ Blairs in Doagh about a Slot that will suit, it needs to go straight to them the same day it is blasted.

Heard plenty of good things about WJ Blairs. I have a 155Q4 that needs painted red and they are close enough to me tbh.
Sounds great that its moving on rightly. :grinning:

Depending on the makeup of that adapter.....angle grinder would soon gain more clearance if needed.

Yeah I probably could nip about 15mm out of it and trim it off level with the manifolds.

Aiming to have some kind of skid plate hung off the chassis rails and front subframe for some kind of protection.

They seem to Paint & Prep projects at night, keep the insurance / road car work to the day time

They are no strangers to a cage or the welder, and most of all they seem game to do it!

Nice SWB Quattro they built for Goodwood 2017 & Historic 911

I’ve always been advised it’s a fail and when we had the rally car we swapped the glass back in again for MOT. However it seems that in the mainland if it has an opening aperture then it can be pass.

It’s probably one of those things that it depends on what tester you get!

Seems to be a bit of a grey area... May be ok if they can be removed from the outside... Front window in perspex might not be ok... Rear window perspex appears ok (most cabrios are like this)...

Basically think "Would they hinder emergency services?".

A call for the individual tester on the day, no clear cut answer.
