Heading there tomorrow morning for 4 tyres for the Cooper S. The boxster has been retired from track days after not making it past the pit lane in Nov. Looking forward to it!

Anyone want to meet in Ards for a McDs breakfast before hand?

Yep, 9.30ish at McDs again?

I just put 205s to the mini this morning instead of 195s onto a 6 inch alloy. Thought that the wider tyre would be better on the track but they do look a touch wide on the rim compared to 195s. 888R's in a 205 55 16 were 89+VAT and 205 45 16 were £111 plus the VAT so I went for the deeper side wall to save a few quid. Not sure if I should have just stuck with 195 50 16s but they'll do the job.

over an inch of difference in the diameter of these sizes. You will probably notice a difference in the gearing of the car this time out.

so long as they don’t rub I’m sure you will still have a ball.

Weather is looking good 😎

Yes, I looked up the sizes online when I was on the phone to Tyre Town and saw 15mm difference but didn't think to multiply that by two. They fit under the arches ok but did scrub once on a back road home when the car hit a biggish bump. Hopefully they'll be fine on the track, but they're on it now so I'll make do!

Zero wrong with the AR-1s - having driven kirkistown on both them and 888’s the AR-1s are 100% more grippy from the off and I’d say also give more confidence and feedback than 888’s (all be it comparing to the original 888’s). Over a full session I think the AR-1s are likely to overheat slightly more but if you get the starting tyre pressures right so you remain within the hot operating pressure you’ll not have any issues. Nankang actually publish the hot pressure you should be aiming for based on car weight which is very useful!

In saying that though, you’ll get R888r’s cheaper and based on that and the fact you don’t need instant grip from the start I’d probably side with those.

I guess the point is every driver is different, and every car is different.

Just try a few different ones and see what works for you.

The thing that always stood out for me on track with 888 is they just never go off. At least not in something light like the Lotus.

But they do take a lap or two to warm up for sure. Once warm they're immense.

The AD08 are just there from the go, that's why they work a bit better on the road too. But go off after ten minutes or so on track.

A tyre like 888 benefits from scrubbing and a couple of heat cycles too to get the best of them.

So I run 888 on the Lotus, and AD08 on the 850. While the P* is on Michelin PSS road tyres.

Tyre pressure makes a huge difference with all. The 888 and AD08 need really low pressure, as opposed to road tyres. Over-inflate and they're no good at all.

Don't know where the AR1 fits within that.

What a machine you are BMW 👌

Bill Adair may be there tomorrow

Just home after a cracking day. Slowest car in our groups by far but still the car didn’t miss a beat. I can now vouch for the ns2r’s, now scrubbed in and didn’t disappoint. My dad is already talking about what else we can do to it.

Nice to chat to a few of you today!

My car went through it’s rear pads in the first session.
I borrowed a worn set to get me out again for another run which was fine but finished those pads off too.
Have some RSL29s ordered which will hopefully help but I think I need to upgrade the rears to match the fronts really.

Anyone going next Saturday?

That's likely the traction control working overtime. It will go through other pads the same way. Try turning it off, or at least turning it down. If you feel brave enough obviously, don't want a big accident.

Today was such a blast! I’ve now destroyed my old road tyres today so now I’ve got a nice excuse to finally buy a set of semi slicks! My best lap time today was 1.13.9 which is a big improvement from the last day, so I’m well chuffed. Was great to hang out with and meet all the RMSers today. (y)

Yep had a great day myself, cheers to all fellow RMSers for the company and track craic. Good to meet you also @althebass 👍🏻

Safely say I definitely put the gearbox back together the right way now, didn't let up all day, which is a relief. Quickest lap was a 113.8, not as quick as my Mini GP could do, but still great fun.

Need to get going through footage tomorrow and see if I got anything decent.

Brilliant day yesterday , weather was perfect at Kirkers after driving through rain most of the way there .
Usual diverse range of machinery all being pushed to the edge and over , some succumbing to mechanial or brake demons relatively soon .
Yellow m3 ran faultlessly apart from losing a piece of brake ducting and front shocks being set to hard , which is what pensioners do when they don't write things down ! 🤔.easily sorted though
The mk2 escort was a sight to behold and hear , got a few good photos of it hopefully @Gibbo will get them up.
However, the 16th of May 2021 will be forever remembered as the day i became RADICALISED!
The culprit of course was @evo98 who kindly offered me a passenger run ,which with not a little apprehension i accepted.
So i thought , will i be able to get in ?
Will i be able to get out !
Has anyone got adult nappies .
Needn't have worried though , enjoyed it immensely, what a weapon , the way it goes , the way it stops , the way it corners , mind blowing machine takes driving commitment to another level , fair play @evo98 . New respect for people who race these , can you image half a dozen of these piling into the like of the hairpin at 150 mph , never mind F1.!
Thanks again to Donal and crew another well run day, drivers well behaved to, good for physical and mental health to be getting back to normal .Marshalls certainly got plenty of excercise the amount of blue flag waving that had to be done when the radical was out 🤭
