Definitely recommend you run one phil. Was just going to say to run your oil pressure sensor at the sandwich to get a accurate reading. You’ll probably only see 3 bar or so in that line

Going good all set for mapping.

Oh that’s not great - what’s the theory behind a pressure drop when taking your reading from a braided line? And what’s the issue with oil temperature ? Did you find it was an isolated oil issue or was there an heat issues with the coolant to?

My default position/hope is that during a 1/2min sprints/hillclimb Oil shouldn’t be cooking at circa 1bar boost. (Side note MR2 coolant should be cooler more efficient than ep3)

Plus I’m cheap lol but keen to hear more about the issues/potential issues cause easier to preempt than deal with it later.

Looking forward to seeing your motor out!

Phil

Ok so started with this

Minus this

And it’s in (plus trail fit of digital dash and gear indicator)

I think I’ll just stick with this oem bodge dash / with it cut back to single plastic skin there would be virtually no weight saving to go fibreglass

Plus to fill and get this prepped for moulding and then the fibreglassing etc etc. Going to be hundreds minimum even if I counts my time as nought.

So yeah I think this or a version of this will be staying.

Plus it’s epically handy to plumb a demister up to the windscreen as per OEM now which was a slight concern for me if I made a custom dash as to how I would insure I got go flow at right in and mounted neatly to clear the screen.

Should have went heated screen 👎 lol

Running a sensor in line only reads pressure at that point ( I done the same on my first build couple years ago then changed to the sandwich plate position to get a more accurate reading of the oil at the engine itself. Just for piece of mind Phil

Terms of oil temp your going to be sitting at 90C + on the line before you set off so can imagine it will rise fairly quickly! I ran a 19row oil cooler and cold feed to my turbo and oil was still peaking 120/130C.

I run a override switch on the radiator fan as well for safely. The older honda’s tend to overheat

Will look into the oil pressure thing for sure. Though this is a line direct from the original oil pressure take off, and any restriction should only drop flow rather than pressure iirc. But like you say if I ended up needing an oil cooler anyways a sandwich plate would be there anyways!

Oil temp - I’ll have to log and see - 90 at idle is ok, and so long as 1min later it’s 100/105 I’d be happy enough.

Coolant temp - again only logging will tell but with the radiator separate from the engine bay and 4m of alloy hardpiping it should cool pretty efficiently.

Did you find temps a lot kinder when you went to methanol mix? And what sort of duration did you run the car hard for? Few laps or longer?

Thanks lads, things a mess at the minute but will get there eventually perhaps.

Got the rear end together tonight which was good, but highlighted more issues needing sorted

Always the way.

Nice to keep doing something even if there is so much still needing addressed .

Gavin @gsportcars on the case with the wiring and I am consulting with Pete @Brookfab in regards to a million and one issues 🥳

And then back in and tucked up the opposite direction in the garage

Which allowed me to refit that left rear quarter abit better

Still oodles to sort and waiting game with everything still needing sorted etc

Wish I’d the budget to walk to the top of the queues lol
