On another forum a guy with same problem replaced the knock sensor in that cylinder and it fixed problem.

Do this below to get rid of exhaust flap error.

Save a full scan.
Try disabling exhaust flaps with vcds
Clear all faults after the above and see what that does.

Just to give a bit of an update....

tomorrow I’ll swap coil and plug over from cylinder 1 to see if the problem moves

to be on the safe side I’ve ordered RS3 coil packs and RS7 plugs as this seems to be the preferred way to go

has it had plugs recently?

It was in for a minor service about 500 miles ago and would of got plugs in the service before that so say around 12k miles they have been in

Check the rubber tube that goes from the coil pack down to the plug. They are very hard to remove and can split slightly. If there’s a split in it then it will arc out to the head. I find it easier to remove the coil packs when the engine is warm. 232C5431-6F52-4300-A405-1FF755A12439.jpeg

So a bit of an update....

Swapped the packs from 4 to 1 but fault still in cylinder 1, changed the plugs then and fault now on cylinder 4 so here’s hoping it’s a simple fix come Tuesday when the parts arrive.

thanks again boys 👌

As always something doesn’t arrive that’s the right part, plugs are in and have sorted the issue but the coil packs they delivered are for the 8p model and not 8V 🤬

and I’m shocked at how badly the car was running with one faulty plug.... it just gave up in a real bad way!!!
