Bump.... I think I might need my S5 (4.2 v8) walnut blasted. It's got 90k miles and had an easy life but I've got an intermittent misfire in cylinder 8 at high revs. The first 45k miles were done by a lady owner with most journeys less than 10miles so the car was just getting warm by the time the journey was over and it didn't see the top of the Rev range often. I think this could mean increased probability of carbon built up.
Checked the obvious things such as new plugs all round and swapped over coil packs (they had been replaced previously) and the misfire stays in 8. It had an air valve fault from the variable valve in the air box which was sorted by clearing out the leaves/dust etc. The fault only appears at the top of the Rev range where it flashes the engine management light but then turns off l, leaving the code logged but nothing on the dash. Next options i think are either replacing the injector or it getting walnut blasted. Any other advice?
