Toyota continuing into the new regs, Aston Martin looking odds on to step up, Peugeot Confirmed, Audi ditching Formula E to return and now Porsche, although they’re 2023
Really looking forward to it, Le Mans will be a must :grinning:
So much for the death of the internal combustion engine

I see Toyota will have a road going version of theirs (or presumably that's part of the hypercar rules is that it must be homologated?)

I remember seeing the concept from a couple of years ago

With a lot of the cars since being released and some manufacturers dropping out and others joining it’s about time this thread got updated.

The two are classes are LMH and LMDH
This video explains them pretty well.
It’s an old video and Aston Martin and Audi have dropped out.

Starting with Toyota as they won LeMans this year.

Toyota GR010 (LMH)

They’re developing the GR020 for next year which will have a new aero package.

I absolutely love that they went a completely different direction with the rule book and made a car with no rear wing.
They started this season late at Monza so it’s really just a year for testing.

They got a podium at LeMans and pole at Monza and were leading the race before a turbo failed. They don’t have budget like the other teams so will be interesting to see how they do next year with 5 other manufacturers.

Ferrari (LMH)

(From here on all new entrants or new cars) These photos are from testing earlier this week at Monza. The official unveiling is on the 30th.
Don’t worry it’s not the F1 team that’s running this and their GT cars are actually competitive.

Porsche 963 (LMDH/GTP)

Porsche have partnered with Penske and are competing in both WEC and IMSA. They have easily done the most testing of any the teams, 24,000km already. They recently completed a 36 hour test at Sebring doing 7,330km there. Compared to Peugeot who did around 15,000km before their first race.

Cadillac (LMDH/GTP)

Another team competing in both WEC and IMSA. With a 5.5 litre V8 it’s one of the best sounding of the cars

Lamborghini are joining for the 2024 season with an LMDH car. The only news on it is that they’re using a V8 engine and partnering with Ligier.

Will be interesting to see how the two classes compare on track, im sure BOP will play a part in keeping it competitive.

Two great pages on instagram that I’d recommend following for up to date news.

Nothing to do with Hypercars but there’s a Gen 7 NASCAR competing at LeMans next year for the 100th anniversary which I would love to see.
Racing in the Garage 56 class which is a class of 1 to show new technology (Nissan Deltawing) or in this case old technology.
