I’ve both there. Just never used them properly 😂

Bought a proper lance last week so intend on at least attempting some safe washing over winter so the car doesn’t look like eff all by the time spring comes round.

if the car is caked in muck i usually spray articulate on then let it dwell. if its bad, i put foam on top

for a quick rinse mid week i would spray on articulate and power hose off - might take two passes with articulate but usually leaves the car clean - having the ceramic coating on the golf will make it a lot easier

I have a karcher k4 which I would think is powerful enough with a stubby gun.

Car gets washed weekly and 90% of the time mitted etc but I try without a mitt I’m wasting my time.

It’s not just the pressure, the water flow is nearly more important. Lot pressure washes have high pressure but have very little water coming out.

That’s what makes better foam too, need high pressure yes, but having a high water flow is needed too.

MPS got a good washing today, wheels were too bad to do on the car despite being spotless last Saturday 🤐. And spent lot of time around the coast with wind and rain and car had lot of salt scum so decided to go the full hog and do the underside too.

We’re then spray in articulate and hand washed

Rears nowhere near as bad

Underside sprayed in articulate from pressure sprayer and then an articulate and Ultrafoam mix before being hosed.

Also sprayed the wheels in purge after the hand wash while I was doing the underside to get any last brake fallout.

And on her wheels and spotless for another while

How can it have a advisory on something that isn’t fitted? Bizarre…unless I’m misunderstanding things!

Wife on the way to dublin this morning with 3 colleagues, phones me to say she’s stopped on a roundabout 🫣 heavy steering and while talking “alternator fault” up on the dash. At this stage, all I could see were pound signs flashing in front of my eyes :joy:

She manages to get the car off the roundabout to assess while I’m on the phone to RAC 🤯🤯

Long story short, snapped alternator belt - £23 supplied and fitted by RAC, hard to whack. Not at all what I was expecting to manage remotely in work this morning 😂

That is some service!

Be worth checking the bearing on the alternator. My Aston did that on the way home from England. It cost a lot more than £23 😂

Thats what I told her to say to the RAC guy in case it was sticking and caused the belt to snap but its a clean snap so who knows - I assume he checked it was rotating freely and car has been driving better it seems with the new belt - she claims the steering feels a lot better in general 🤷‍♂️

After hitting a pothole located on the brow of a hill last Sunday, got my wheel alignment corrected once again by @RubberLover .. top service as always from the Carrick guys!

Frustratingly only done around 1100 miles since it was done after getting new suspension but it is what it is.

No suspension damage, just knocked the alignment off, driving straight and true again.

Started to change the auxiliary belt and soon realised it’s a C U Next Tuesday type of job so wet sanded and buffed the headlights instead.

2 months later I got the auxiliary belt changed on the 172 Clio.

Remove the front bumper, the slam panel and the drivers headlight. I used a 70-90mm jubilee clip to compress the tensioner then removed the bottom 13mm bolt. The belt can then be removed.
I seen others drop the engine on one side but I didn’t need to do that, maybe that needs done if the tensioner is being changed.

I then cleaned up the front brakes and bled them with new fluid for Kirkistown tomorrow.

Still working my way through cleaning up the garage, got a fair bit sorted at the tail end of last week but really pissed off with the state of the 155's. Caked in dust from the son doing a load of work with a circular saw and router earlier in the year when I was laid up. Was helping the mate move one of his 155's from his front garden at the weekend and that probably led to me cleaning up one of mine today. I vacuumed off the worst of the dust and because it's not moving under it's own steam, I gave it a 'bed bath' in the garage with a damp micro fibre cloth.

Never liked rubber mats personally, far too utility like. I have them in the rear of the A6 to save from the kids, but that’s it.

Same. I swap them out asap when bright drier weather comes back in!

Hate the oem carpet mats getting wet, stained and generally bogging over winter!
