The aul lad upgraded his Ranger to a brand new Rodeo in April. All black with anthracite wheels, chrome steps, camera etc. Awesome big thing, but about £10k more than we want to part with. Won't even contemplate the finance route...

Well my old warrior has covered 65000 miles in my ownership, 2005 and its in awesome nick, takes very little looking after. Slow as hell but reliable and tough

What would say your getting MPG wise Paul? I know you'd be 1 of the better 1's to ask as you tow the same kinda weight with yours regularly.

Low 20's at best when towing worse than that. I have MT tyres on too which supposedly cost me 2mpg Nicky

Great towing beast though but as I said - slow.

Landcruisers seem to be some wagon but by **** they hold their money well for a good one

Even a good one will require LOTS of money spent on them

Front Calipers
Pads & Discs all round (remember, theyre a big jeep and will go through them quickly)
Front D Bushes
Front Shock Bushes
Balljoints (which are part of the wishbone, and there's 2 per side)
Wishbone Bushes

And thats provided theres no bother with the injectors or engine

I can only imagine the Landcruiser being as hard to fuel and as expensive to repair as a Hilux, so for that reason Aidan316i, I'm out :p

tbdevpaul - high teens/low 20's would be expected when towing, but the Terrano is doing near 30mpg on daily running, would exceed 30 when cruising (if it's kept below 60mph, otherwise it drains the tank in no time due to low gearing) and I don't think it would ever have used a noticeable amount more fuel when towing. I have heard the L200's are hard on fuel compared to the other's, so would be inclined to avoid them if I'm honest.

I suppose it's just going to be a matter of picking 1 and going with it, as they all have their downsides and reliability issues it seems, and wanting car MPG is out of the question.

That said, has anyone remapped a pick-up? Would be tempted to hear how they air up when mapped...

Dont map the L200 that's for sure, can lead to over boosting issues.

MPG will always suffer. The wife used to have a V6 lwb shogun 14mpg all day long towing or not lol but then you could LPG a petrol engined jeep like coogs !

Ouch. No bother if you're inside though. The Disco scored very well...
Hi Nicky, Changing the subject, I saw your comment on another thread about the Nissan Terrano rusty chassis problem. We have a 2005 Terrano II with exactly that problem. The chassis is dreadful but the rest of the car is still really good. Two thoughts arise, the first is this, do you think the problem might be potentially fixable in a proper welding shop (as distinguished from a regular garage who'd charge a fortune to do the welding required!)? If so can you recommend such a welding specialist? Secondly, as all of that generation of Terrano, if built in Spain appear to have this problem, do you know if anyone has succeeded in getting any compensation from Nissan?

We have 2 3.2 wildtrak rangers at work and there great.

Hard on diesel but comfortable and no bother pulling 3t mini digger behind it.,
