I still think the Rally 1 cars are too fast to be honest and we are just waiting on a massive, massive accident. Like, look how far the thing is from the road. If it had been inverted, it would be a lot more serious.

3 different lights. Green, amber and red (with and alarm for red).

Anyone can touch the car on green, marshals when yellow, specialised responders when red and an alarm is sounding.

For the new Hybrid era starting with Monte Carlo 2022 there will be new safety instructions for the spectators as the new cars will be partly powered by high voltage current and a similar protocol to Formula 1 will be applied.
The new WRCs will be equipped with light signals on the front and the sides to warn spectators and marshals of a possible electrical or chemical danger should a component melt.
These signals will be:
Green Signal: Car is safe
Red Signal or no signal: Possible concern and vehicle should not approach as there is a risk of exposure to high voltages. Rescue teams equipped with insulating gloves will attend supervised by the FIA safety delegate.
Blue Signal: Severe risk by FIA criteria requiring medical intervention and an audible signal to stop anyone approaching the vehicle."

I thought it was red, amber green which would maybe be simpler.

Green, red and blue possibly adds confusion.

If the blue light is triggered by g-force telemetry (which is likely) I suspect most accidents will trigger a blue light. Having to wait for teams to access the stages before anyone can help rather than marshals/spectators being on the scene and able to help immediately must be slightly concerning for the crews.

Ah it'll be a mess of a system.
What happens if you can leave the vehicle safely and suspect possible fire, but the blues and siren are on? Do you sit there? Will the car fry you? Its an overly complicated and unnecessary setup & I feel the Hybrid component is just to tick a 'green energy' box.

As I have said before, they are talking about a live 360deg GPS camera on each car too, which will monitor both the crew safety in the event of an off and let organisers see the position of spectators live on the stage etc

It's the same with hybrid F1 cars and formula E, rally X, etc. Serious power in those electrical systems. Drivers choose to be there, and effectively in a Faraday cage. Marshals can't be expected to risk their lives.

At least on the circuits help is always near at hand. Not so much in the forest.

That said they do have procedures for safely getting in and out, kill switches, etc. But those require training. I believe marshals can access some of that to get people out but not 100% sure.

The blue flashing light already exists (note bottom right of the windscreen after the impact - it’s the same on the other side) seems that they’re including a simple safe or not safe to touch with green and red and updating the blue flashing when the impact is severe

At a guess I would say Amber isn't used as it could be confused with hazard lights.

Read David Evans article on Dirtfish and he says this was Adamo's decision but who knows what the question was. Sounds a bit worrying for Hyundai for next year tbh but they may well pull it out of the bag, it's a big organisation after all.

I'm sure they have succession planning on place.

And I'm sure they have a shed full of shells somewhere to build a new car from if it was really the only one they had built so far.

Not great timing though, sounds like they might be on the back foot.

Sounds promising for the WRC to finally be back in Ireland
This is merely a drop in the ocean, but still a great help with on-the-ground costs. We'll need a few other councils to do the same and then Stomont to cough up the final couple of million that the WRC promote gets paid.

Who is really going to think in terms of - there's a car off, & there is no lights shown, therefore it may not be safe to touch??

Someone somewhere is getting fried....
