I did a test in an Evo 2 Accent WRC. What a machine that was then in contrast sat for a test with Lasse Lampi in Subaru. Night and difference the cars. Good times.I regularly watch old WRC videos on YouTube of that era. It was class.
Citroen, Ford, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, SEAT, Škoda and Subaru.
Plus it was the best era for drivers.
Cordoba WR car around 99 I guess.
Loved them.and the Octavia WR car.
Exactly that. Remember at one point Irish Tarmac Championship had 38 ex-works WR cars in the field.98/99 is peak rallying for me.
Between WRC and F2 there were 13 full supported works teams. 13.
That’s 10 more than we have now.
Each one of them was developing cars, drivers, tyres, testing in local rallies, competing in domestic championships, selling ex-works cars etc.
We didn’t know just how good we had it back then.
And as many helicopters in Donegal around the same era...Exactly that. Remember at one point Irish Tarmac Championship had 38 ex-works WR cars in the field.
Just class.
We counted 27 helicopters were in the field beside Milford mart in ‘07.And as many helicopters in Donegal around the same era...
I was chatting to Chris Patterson there today at an event. He's still involved with Greensmith and sounds like he'll be at the full season with the team. He sits with him on PET and stuff like that still.
How many of them are FIA Rally 2 "R5's" though?R5’s are getting to be the same now. 30 entered for Galway.
Do they go from 32mm to 34mm?I see KG Motorsport have an R5+. I take it they have a bigger restrictor?
AFAIK, larger restrictor and there is a boost valve that gets removed, to increase the turbo pressure.I see KG Motorsport have an R5+. I take it they have a bigger restrictor?
I heard of what car that's fitted with a 2.0-litre. A Skoda, I think.Apparently some are running a 2ltr engine as opposed to the standard 1.6ltr.
I thought they just opened up the restrictor.
Cathan Mc Courts gravel car is a R5 fiesta shell with a 2.0 focus engine and running gear.Apparently some are running a 2ltr engine as opposed to the standard 1.6ltr.

There is one other 2.0-litre car in the NI series.Cathan Mc Courts gravel car is a R5 fiesta shell with a 2.0 focus engine and running gear.
Originally built by Barry McKenna to run in the US.
Think it’s the only 2.0 “R5”.
Is it still Hyundai and Toyota? M-Sport and Ford?Best place to follow it is All rallying. One source. – DirtFish Ex
Its in a precarious position the WRC - if one of the two manufacturers pull the plug it will fall apart. New Hybrid cars are mad though.
If you missed Monte-Carlo you missed a real treat. It was an excellent rally.Has WRC started this year? Coverage is awful and it annoys me that only some teams/drivers run certain races. Competition isn't great is it? Or am I talking BS?
