Rally Mexico takes place this weekend and already there have been interesting developments. Citroen's Dani Sordo is out according to WRC.com

"Citroen team driver Dani Sordo is out of the first day of Rally Mexico after broken suspension brought his car to a halt on the opening stage.

Sordo, who was fourth on Rally Mexico in 2006 and 2007, stopped 15km into the 22km Alfaro stage (SS1) after breaking the front left suspension wishbone of his Citroen C4 WRC.

No further details of the incident are available at this time. It is expected that Sordo will restart the event on Saturday as a Superally entrant."

Latvala leads after two stages from Loeb and Atkinson.

Loeb back in front as of yesterday and started first today. SS18 was cancelled due to spectator numbers.

This rally should be scrapped. After spectators moving the tape last year to make the cars take a different route and Matthew Wilson getting a rock thrown at his windscreen this year, it must be time for it to be pulled out. If this was in Europe the rally would not return. But because its in a jippy country in a different continent it's allowed to continue.

Anyway, shame about Latvala having problems as he was going very well. Good win for Loeb but he is definitely not the unbeatable force he was.

Totally agree, but as it's a growing car market the manufacturers probably insist that they go there.

I know that probably is the reason. It's just frustrating as we have to stand a mile back from the road with huge cordoned off areas while these monkeys are free to throw rocks and stand on the road with no intervention from the non existent marshals.

Latvala is looking good, still not sure about Miko.

But Loeb - everybody else get punctures, hit rocks, whatever, while he just cruises through. So annoying, cannot just be luck since it happens all the time :grinning:

Maybe, but part of the fun is unpredictable events. Still miss the Safari, proper rallying ended when it was scrapped.

Throwing rocks is not on, but it was just one random idiot amongst tens of thousands of spectators.

I've been totally bemused about how rallies are chosen for the WRC. I absolutely hate the way the championship has chosen to rotate rallies. No other motorsport operates a callendar in such a way.

It's as you said before - potential car sales.

Disgraceful behaviour and to glamorize the spectators the way they did and to smooth over what happended Wilson :scream: Then again look what happened Donnelly a few years back...

Loeb isn't as strong it may seem from this years start, let's hope the interest continues long into the year (y)

Well you'll knock me down with a feather if he doesn't win the championship again.
