WRC Sardinia 2011 - Mini Debut

Rally Sardinia starts today where we will see the debut of the WRC Mini and our very own Kris Meeke!

Action starts today with shakedown this morning and opening ceremony tonight with stages proper starting tomorrow.

Some times have come in from the first shakedown run through and encouraging signs from Kris!

After 1 run- Loeb 1.49.1,Lat 1.49.4,Hirv 1.50.6, Petter/Kris = 4th on 1.51.5, PG 1.52.2, Dani 1.53.7, Ogier 1.54.0

Was at his uncles house over the weekend and his times in testing against Sordo has looked good!

All but impossible to follow WRC now it is only on pay TV though Not even a Sunday roundup on Dave ffs... Must be the worst decision ever for the sport, especially now with the new regs mixing things up and making it more interesting again.

your can still get the 1hr programe each night of the WRC events on MotorsTV if you have sky. Far better programme imho as you usually get loads of onboard footage.

Kris 6th on the first stage.

Beat Loeb and was 3 seconds quicker that Sordo.

Latvala had a roll but got going again.

Stage 2

Kris just passed the 2nd spilt - 1.3 seconds up

Passed the 3rd split - dropped some time, now +3.4

Passed 4th split- dropped a bit more, now +5.6 seconds, if it stays as they'll get the 3rd fastest time.

GET IN - Finished the Stage 3rd fastest, they're now 3rd in the Rally.

Sordo is 15 secs down on Kris after 2 stages.

I'm off to the Autosport Forum to do some bragging - So much for Sordo showing Kris up as a 'second rate driver'

Did Petter Solberg and PG Andersson have offs?

Not sure, I saw 'Tweets' that they'd both got punctures.

Solberg had a boost pipe problem which cost him a lot of time on SS2.

PG Andersson stopped on stage after breaking a steering arm but got going again.
Kris was 4th overall after SS2.

Henning Solberg just over the finish line in SS3 on fire, no more news yet!

Reports that Kris Meeke has stopped 2km into stage 3 with a technical problem

Using Stages time - Citroën WRC as it's the only thing that's not blocked in work. Information is slow on it.

Kris ran wide and hit a rock taking a wheel off the car. Says he felt something as he braked into the 5th gear corner but they aren't aware what actually happened. Team say they need to analysis the data to see what was going on at the time. Pity for Kris as he was doing so well, at least he showed him and the car have the pace.

Latvala spun on opening stage after a wrong note by the navi, he got going again but retired in stage 2 with suspension damage.
