Write off... MOT reminder + still own V5

Whats the score with this...

Had a smash, and went through "crash services" (dont recomend them at all) My car was declared a total loss and a few months later some random scarpyard sent me a cheque for the "current" value (eg **** all )

Yet I still have the owners slip (V5?) and just got a MOT reminder through the post today

Bit shady no?

Got all my money in the end so thats not an issue but am I still the legal owner of this car etc? Now where did I leave it

Call the insurance company. They should have notified the DVLA that the car is a total loss.

AFAIK this is up to the present owner....

Get on to the DVA ASAP

If you've been paid out then the insurance company should now be the legal owner.

They collected mine about a week after the cheque was banked and insisted all paperwork was sent to them..
