Dogleap Stages Rally 2004: we intended to get in just 2 maybe 3 stages but failing to get a programme meant we only knew 2 of the stages. So it was flat out to the 2nd stage of the day where we saw nearly the full entry list for the day’s rally coming through @ a rapid rate. Local man Kevin Lynch dominated the rally from the start in his KPL sponsored Impreza, and when you consider the fact that he had never sat in a rally car a year previous you can respect the man’s 1st season in rallying. He was delighted to have won on home turf and all he could say at the end of the rally was “I am over the moon”. The main battle was between Glenn Allen in the Cossie and Eugene Donnelly in the GT4, with the 2 drivers pushing the limits for the final 2 podium positions all day, Glenn Allen got 2nd 18 secs behind Lynch with Donnelly getting the 3rd and only 8secs off the tail of Allen.

So the top 10 after the day’s competition are as follows –

st (10) Kevin Lynch/Martin McNicholl (Impreza WRC) 53.34
nd (4) Glenn Allen/John Gallagher (Escort WRC) 53.52
rd (2) Eugene Donnelly/Paddy Toner (Celica) 54.00
th (5) Richard Hogg/Mark Hanna (Lancer N) 54.58
th (11) Kieran Shaw/Crawford Henderson (Escort WRC) 54.59
th (18) Raymond Johnson/Richard Bell (Lancer N) 55.27
th (7) Dermott Kelly/John Brennan (Escort WRC) 55.45
th (17) Sean Devine/Damien Duffin (Impreza N) 55.48
th (1) Denis Biggerstaff/Derek Brannigan (Metro 6R4) 56.02
th (6) Kevin O’Kane/Francis Regan (Impreza) 56.07
