BMW 320si.
BMW had to make them to homologate the touring car version. Bigger brakes and lightly tuned.

I considered one a few years ago but there was too many unreliable additions.
As far as I remember, the engine sits further back and lower than a regular 320i

And by all accounts, probably not on the original engine either. I’d read an article years ago, probably still have the magazine, and it said they had been so fragile most owners needed new engines within a few years.

The same Yamaha V8 Volvo used in the XC90, and that Noble later used as well. Rare cars. Really needs to be Rebel Blue though, there is one of them over on the Volvo forum unless it is already sold. But that one on the auction looks nice and relatively unmolested.
That would be transverse or east/west.
Horizontally opposed would be a flat 8 rather than a V8. You're right though, looks odd.

Only seen one before about 25 yrs ago and it was so far out of my league it was just unthinkable to have one let alone being unattainable. Still is, but only by a lesser factor today. Still a beautiful car though!Often forgotten about Jaguar XJR-15
