£1000 DIESEL RUNABOUT WANTED

As mentioned in the title, I want something as a runabout for no more than 1K. Must be diesel as it could do 20K a year, must be reliable and mechanically good. Must also be atleast 100bhp and 6 speed.

I've stuck by 130/150 bhp 1.9PD engines for the past 5 years and they literally haven't missed a beat for the guts of probably 150000 miles I've done in them. Not sure whether to buy another Golf/Bora or what do buy next so any alternatives welcomed.

Golf/Bora/Leon
A4/A3
Volvo S40?
Mondeo?

Anything else you can think of? I'd try anything really. Probably keep it a year and change again just.

I have an 02 Bora se 130 bhp in raven blue. 150k on it needs two front wings MOT up in may I'm selling it for a neighbour. He wants £750 for it.
