13 points ?? how long is the books gone for?

hi ...a mate of mine just went to court there and got 8 points for no insurance and 2 for no mot ...he already had 3 and as hes only be driving for less than two years so hes only aloud 6 points anyway rite? well we were wondering how long he will be off the road and will he have to resit his test?

judge never said so any1 that can shed some light on this?

think he has to re apply for his licence and then book his test again, since its within 2 years of passing his test

will mean him resitting an extended test also

any idea when he will be able to do this? 3 years maybe when points are gone?

surely its more than six months!!!

points stay on your license for four years lad! and you have to declare them to insurance for 5 years.

nope.. they are active for 3 years.. but will stay printed on your licence for 4.. and its up to teh insurance company on how much they ask you for

So is it not up to the judge to decide how long the ban is?
Is it always 6 months if lost thru' totting up 12 points?
That seems a bit harsh if it is as 4x 50 in a 40 could see you off the road for 6 months?

the judge decides the ban ...it seems if you tot up more that 12 points you lose books for 6 months ...and if you get over 6 points in youre first two years you have to do a retest
