Cerakote?

Over at the JPCC event yesterday, and Nu-Luk was there, and on the stand were a few samples of car parts that had been 'painted' with Cerakote.

Anyone used it? The demo showed a very resilient product! Would be brilliant on calipers I reckon.

Andy gave us a demo of him beating the **** out of a cerakote'd caliper with a spanner. Dented the caliper and none of the coating came off - very impressive

I saw that too. Seems to be seriously impressive stuff.

Is there a clear version of Cerakote? Would be interesting to see it on top of a diamond cut alloy.

I had some grab handles done years ago for the interior, was changing roof cloth to black alcantara and it had cream plastic handles… guys had tried painting em and they always flaked

Cerakote has been great, was baked at lower temps being plastic but fantastic finish/durability

That's genius. Never thought that it would take to plastic parts!!

I have the suspension done with it on my racing car. It’s pretty impressive but it can still chip. (My rear arms are quite marked now but slicks fire a lot of stones at them)

I went for it because it is very thin and allowed parts to fit together.

I have it on the Cafe Racer engine which is aircooled and can get pretty hot and it's unreal. No peal, discoloration etc etc. Great Stuff

It works well on man jewellry too -

A company in England who normally work with guns did the coating. The fit of the case parts afterwards was perfect but I expected that anyway - people were doing it when I first became aware of the Seiko modding scene over 10 years ago. It's never been that popular due to the satin-only finish, but it seems to hold up well.

I'm surprised it hasn't been more widely adopted by the automotive world come to think about it...
