Hi all,

I'm helping a lady who ran her Peugeot 4007 dry.

She burnt the starter motor trying to get it starter.

I've replaced the starter motor but it doesn't seem to be getting fuel. I have read HDI engines are an arse to get started after running out of fuel. There is plenty of diesel getting to the filter but doesn't seem to be injecting any diesel.

Anyone know where will have easy start in East Belfast or any tips how to get this Damn thing started???

Thanks,

Warren.

Is it the 2.2 engine? I think it may be the same as the freelander. The fuel filter doesn't self prime so it's a bugger to sort out. I ended up using a pressure brake bleeder to suck the diesel through the filter enough to get it going. A hand suction pump of some sort will do the same job. Hope this helps.

Cheers, yeah it's the 2.2

It's firing up with easy start but dies right away

You can do serious damage to those high pressure fuel pumps if ran dry.

I wouldn't be surprised if she has.

This is all happened because she was scared to use the diesel pump because of coronsvirus! Doh

Brake and clutch cleaner into the air intake is the one way I’ve got mine to start after changing the filter or arising about with the fuel rail.

Has taken a few attempts at times.

The only right way to do it is to prime the system manually. But as others have said, the damage may already be done. Very expensive damage too.

Got this started finally, after fitting a new starter motor.

Bulb type pump between the filter and high pressure pump, still nothing.

Cracked the nuts on the injectors just a hair and turned over until diesel leaking out all 4. Tightened them up and it started. Idling fine

Eml is on now, hopefully just a historic stored code. Couldn't find my obd2 reader ffs
