20 -> 50 = 2.5 times
so in fairness, everyones insurance groups have gone up, but not by 2.5 times the orignal number.

Not that any of this is going to matter a ****e anyway, we are still going to get ripped off

Oops just noticed you don't need one. FRS is up from 17 to 34.

who cares?

its probably just to accommodate the ever growing number of ECO cars and other higher end performance cars, 20 groups i always thought was a bit small anyway.

i`ve never once worried about a group of a car... you can either insure it or you cant... if you cant, get a trade policy.

is anyone thinking about this?

0-20 is now 0-50 so if you had a grp20 its now grp50 (2.5 times the old group).
grp 10 would be grp25

in reality its probably 2x to allow more room up top so grp10 -> grp 20 is dead on.

all those people complaining about not being able to insure the car... take the above for example

at the min a vectra is 50% up the scale of 1 - 20

and its now 40% on the new scale of 1 - 50

cant see it making a huge difference i dont think

I don't understand why people are complaining about this. Its like complaining because you got 80/100 in an exam and now have 80%.

17 -> 34 so mine now appears to be actually lower than it was before. Insurance groups haven't given a true reflection of potential premium for years, perhaps this will recitfy that.

Bronk you group is now LOWER than it was before :confounded:

Most insurance companies switched to the new grouping ages ago, however some still have to follow.

It wont have any effect on your insurance premiums, its simply to give a fairer grouping to cars.

IE, Civic type R, Astra VXR and Focus ST are all group 17. However under the new grouping they "might" have them at slightly different levels. After all, the focus and astra are more powerful but the same group as the civic.

I'm not sure if it is amusing or annoying reading the complaints in this thread lol. As said above, it is simple maths, what's the problem?
