It's called haggling. He tells you a price, you suck in breath, ask him if he can do any better on the price. He looks at his screen, tells you a better price, then you tell him what you're prepared to pay.
Every company has a standard price that most people pay unquestioned. They also have a price they must sell at to make a profit. If you haggle you'll always get a bit off.
