Can your car fail MOT for being too loud even if the cat and middlebox are in. What is the is the legal level and is there any where this can be checked before the MOT.

why would you want it so loud in the first place? I got my stainless system made telling them i wanted it to sound a notch or two above std rather than peco bigbore sounding.
if you drive it easily into the centre and try not to rev her too much, they might not mind a little noise, but if its really bad they will notice big time when they are moving it out of the brake testers.

Silly loud will be obvious to them.
With my car, the most of the noise comes from the induction kit from say 1k-3k revs. Then after that the exhaust kicks in big time. So town driving is fine
