TLDR - daily runner sh*t itself and bought this..

Last week my daily run around 1.1 Mitsubishi Colt let me down when I least expected it. Spent far too much on it to plough more money into it so the hunt was on to find a replacement.

I'd been looking at ST Fiestas for quite some time but never pulled the trigger to purchase.

Most I'd looked at were already sold. This one happened to come up quite local.

I'd owned a 1.6 Fiesta Zetec 12 years ago (nearly to the exact day!).

Plans are minimal right now but undoubtedly these will change! Such a fun car to drive.

Loved my old one! Had this for 2 years and it was Revo stage 1🔥 it was great even though the ride was hard to say the least (on h&r springs).

So after some hoking round the car I found a Mountune air intake box.

Made a few enquiries with Mountune and the car at some point has the Stage 1 upgrade fitted along with induction kit (panel filter).

Nice little suprise as the car was advertised as standard.

1st wash this morning. Paintwork on the car is immaculate! Recaro half leather seats are a dream to sit in.

I miss my wee diesel Zetec S massively tbh. These are a lovely steering thing, health to enjoy.

Been looking for an upgrade for the mountune air box. ITG had a sale on last week so ordered up the VUDU induction kit.

Not sure who designs the instructions for these kits but 100% my neighbours have learnt a few new swear words 😂

Scorpion cat back exhaust system arrived.
Plan was to fit this myself. Jacking the car up I was met with this....

IMG20221208092343.jpg

Local guy to me was able to fit the exhaust. The old one litterly fell apart so was in dire need of a replacement.

Really impressed with the sound difference. Nice and "throaty" without too much drone when sitting on the motorway.

Waiting on a turbosmart bov to replace the standard recirc valve.

Friend has one, they are genuinely such a nice thing to drive. I do find the recaros pretty snug though.. and I’m not even a big human!

Fitted a Collins dogbone and short shifter kit, brilliant bits of kit too!

If it's anything like fitting them on the Focus ST, going in through the drivers side wheel arch. Get yourself a set of long reach ball head hex bits. They make it so much easier.

Seen a few videos on this. Definitely sounds a lot easier 👌

Took into fitting the bov this morning. Reading all the tutorials online I was not looking forward to fitting it off axle stands.

Was pretty straight forward (even with a hangover).

All plumbed in and tidied. Sounds excellent twined with the VUDU induction kit.

New FMIC and stage 2 on the cards for next year.

Hectic few weeks with boost issues on the car.

Car would go into limp mode and throw up the service light when going past 3k rpm. Thought it was likely the bov causing the issues.

Went to take the wheel off to get access to it and found the locking nut was cracked - I had a slow puncture repaired not that long ago and never realised the guys must have used an air gun to remove/install the nuts. Short trip to MJE to get the front nuts off resulted in this...

IMG20230306154007.jpg

With sorting one issue I could tackle the boost issue. Got the standard bov installed and tightened up all intercooler/intake pipework. Same problem persisted unfortunately.

Downloaded Forscan and got an obd2 lead. Few errors came up

IMG20230310161957.jpg

Quick search over some Ford forums and most problems seem to be caused by a faulty boost solenoid valve.

Got my local Ford dealer to order me one in.
Fitted this morning and thankfully all is back to normal. Car actually seems to pull a lot smoother so I may have had a couple of boost leaks.
