Your inbox is full @Cartunes

Would you be able to look at my Ibiza speakers sometime? Plays music out the passenger speakers fine but the drivers side seems to be very intermittent

I return to Bangor the first weekend of every month at the very least. @Big Andy can sort your sounds for you if you are ever up in the big smoke direction

Well, unlike the lazy @OLLIeCrX, I cover the West Midlands too! :p

It's flattering to know that people would rather wait for me to get back in the country than take their car to someone else. Maybe I should up my prices? I think @Pumesta waited two months for his install. Audio is declining though. When I started in 1986 (Ethel, have you seen where I put my teeth), I was installing nothing but audio and alarms and loads every week at a nice 50% mark-up on the products, how that has changed in my 27 years with electronic products giving roughly 15% mark up which isn't enough to maintain any sort of premises without a huge sales volume. Nowadays it's tracking, diagnostics, security, aux / i-Plop inputs, DAB, parking sensors, phone kits and a lot less profit in every job partly due to the vast availability of Oriental garbage from fleabay flooding our market and wooing people into buying scrap then bringing it to me after they attempt to fit it themselves........ There's between 500 - 3000 different wires in a well-spec'd car these days with over ten different signal types, several ending up at the radio which can wipe out a car if a novice "has a go", Sometimes I weep, sometimes I laugh, and sometimes I just tell the person who fries his radio or car to take it somewhere else where they will punish 'im for his (never her) stupidity in tackling a job in which they have no training. Electricity is the hidden enemy and is only detected by specialist equipment, and not even a multimeter is enough to get by these days............. And still, even on the good ship RMS, I read comments like "it's easy, do it yourself" when someone wants something fitted that can take me two days sweat n tears!

I'm glad I'm not in the game full time and relying on it for a living, but I like to keep my hand in.

I will just add my say to this.

@Cartunes has worked on two of my cars now and will certainly go above and beyond the call of duty to do a professional job at a price that i found to be extremely reasonable. Evening coming out to my place to finish the work when i needed the car back due to family issue.

Dont think I thanked you enough at the time (y)

Well said. Unless it's something straight forward or decent wedge I don't even bother any more, I wouldn't go back into the in car game for any amount of money..... I actually now enjoy working on my own car and occasionally doing the odd alarm / phone kit / audio install.... And when I say odd I mean very odd. Lol
