surely if it was mounted closer to the engine, more grunt could be had tho...

looks like a fuel pipe coming out of the tank straight into the turbo, maybe by running a longer pipe, and by tapering it from say a 6 inch pipe to a 3 inch pipe at the turbo, there is more of a forced induction, causing the turbo to spool quicker, hence the distance?
