Toshiba Rally at Ballypatrick Forest Park

This years PaceNotes NI Championship was brought to a close today with the Toshiba being the last round for 2004. Going into the event it was Lynch and Shaw to lift the title but when the drop scores come into play it meant that for Shaw to win he needed to win on the road and for Lynch not to finish which meant a tough battle for both men. Sadly Shaw had car trouble all morning and didn’t perform well at all until after service when he had new diff’s fitted in the car and put down some real good times to get 6th overall but Lynch just had to keep the head down and finish to lift the championship but not only did he do that but he won the event also so well done to Kevin and his co-driver Francis Regan on a very successfully year and good luck next year (so long as the stories of retirement are not true).

Raymond Johnson won grpN today and was having a real good drive and on the pace of the big guns in their WRC machinery, Seamus Donnelly took 2nd today and won the championship grpN title with Mike Curran i’m sure very happy to take runner up this year and 3rd in class today whilst finishing joint 6th overall. Mike was going pretty well today and gave a much more experienced driver a run for the championship so roll on next year where we may see Mike lift the title, who knows?

So at the end of the day here’s the top 10 –

1- (3) Kevin Lynch/Francis Regan (Impreza WRC) 30.58
2- (2) Derek McGarrity/James McKee (Impreza WRC) 31.13
3- (14) Raymond Johnson/Richard Bell (Lancer N) 32.35
4- (11) Seamus Donnelly/Billy McCullins (Lancer N) 32.51
5- (5) Denis Biggerstaff/Damien McCann (Impreza WRC) 32.53
6- (4) Kieran Shaw/Crawford Henderson (Impreza WRC) 33.12
