Well 4 years of ownership on 18th October - still my dream car, still look back at it when I park it, and still love taking it out. I genuinely never thought I would still have it at this stage. I bought it with 16k, it turned 28k in July, and will turn 29k over the next week or so.
Since May, it has been used as my mode of transport to my wedding in July, take my wife and I on our Honeymoon down South, toured Northern Ireland, and never missed a beat. I briefly toyed with lowering when some springs appeared on here, but to be honest I couldn’t commit myself fully to it.

No real changes in the last year and a half and it hasn’t had much use either, now with shy of 32k. A few small details, changed the wheel centres for silver, than an addition a mountune oil cap, new mountune mats, and mountune mudflaps. Other than that, it was moved from the garage into the shed, so thankfully much lower risk of me dropping or bumping anything on it.

I am still on the fence about the mudflaps, but will see how they go.

The picture of the rear is so menacing looking. They are a great looking car. Maybe would ditch the mudflaps, but wouldn’t be in a hurry as they’re not that bad.

One of the best looking cars on the road . Guy does my kids mechanical work has a green mk2 and grey mk3 ,imo the mk2 absolutely trumps the newer car .
Would love an ug mk2 .

Thanks for the comments

I should add, I always liked the mudflaps on other RS’s, so was happy to buy them. Just not sure now I have them fitted, probably just take a while to get use to it.

Another pointless update on this thread but keeps me up to date.

A year since I last posted, and embarrassingly has travelled about 400miles or so, at this stage, it’s costing roughly a £1 per mile in road tax

None the less, I still enjoy when I do manage to take it a run.
Like most folk, life takes over, my wife and I had our first child last summer, and naturally that has consumed a lot of my freetime. It was for that reason it had seen such little use really. When my wife was heavily pregnant, the last thing she wanted to travel in was the focus, and when our son was born, the ease of using the discovery for everything meant the focus saw less and less use. He has been out in it, and enjoyed it so much he slept the entire journey, which in a car this stiff I was impressed with. On top of that, poor man maths took over and I decided I wanted a mini winter project to add to the list of other jobs I dont get time to do. So as a family of 3, naturally it made sense to buy another 2 seater, and I bought a mk1 MX5 to act as stablemate for the focus and midget, 2 cars already not being used enough.

Anyway, moving on, last year I’d noticed a small leak underneath the focus, so finally got round to working on it in February, you’ll see the theme here with small jobs taking ages to get too. Thankfully, it was only the gearbox drain plug washer was the issue, so fitted in well with an gear oil change anyway. Whilst sorting that, noticed it was weeping from the oil filter housing, common problem on all the 2.5 5 cylinders, so replaced it with a brand new genuine ford (not ford at all) part. All straight forward enough and I enjoyed the jobs for once

Apart from that, it has been washed once, and I took it too C&C at Down Royal and just enjoyed being out in it again.

7 years of ownership this October, which I never expected, but I still love the car, still think it looks great, sounds great and goes so well. A few jobs I would like to tackle underneath, but its balancing the time to do these jobs and also enjoying it when I can.
