Hey guys, anyone bought (or even looked at) any of the local guys selling the tool cabinets stocked?

range from 350-400 depending on exact type.... tidy looking & Organized.... quality? I’m not expecting or needing mechanic quality, I’m happy with my Halfords professional type stuff I mostly use....

Thoughts?

Really well
They class themselves as w tools direct based in Coalisland. They do seem to shift a quantity of stuff haven't heard of any up roars so far but that's not to say there hasn't been any. Haven't had the stuff in my hand though so can't comment on it.

To many cars
I bought 1 for 300
Not broke any of the ratchets or bits yet
Used the M16 for the first time yesterday in a mk5 golf rear wheel bearing an I was expecting the bit to break or ring but took both bearings out

I had an email from sgs engineering the other day with discounts on, prices are normally decent and the I’ve never faulted the quality of anything I’ve bought - small trolley jack and axle stands are still like new years later.
Their tool cabinets look pretty good 👍🏼 Worth a look maybe

"German" tool box deals are all Chinese off Alibaba or Ali express. Don't seem to be the worst but at £300 for the whole lot they are probably 100% if you're not on tools every day

cheers guys, yea SGS seem to do decent enough stuff, and yes !! no doubt the 'German' tag is a name.... and ultimately is Chinese

its not so much for the cabinet - its having everything neatly packaged... everything having its place, labeled etc.

@McFall1984 which one did you get and off who ?

It'll all end up from China anyways. I was contacted years back to be a supplier for a company. Office in England and the South, was an American brand but everything was produced in Taiwan after a bit of searching on them.

I have a few kits and just use something till it breaks then replace with something better, I'd a small kit from lidl years ago and it stripped a few cars with no issues and got hammered and threw about with no issues.

Taiwan is usually considered a step up from China. I'm sure Halfords, Draper, Teng, Britool, Kamasa, etc, would agree.

Bought one of the boxes tonight, very surprised/happy at the quality to be fair..lots of boxes/options out there... but his one has the range I was after.

7 drawer cabinet, plus side locker... decent top with bench area and organizer... 6 drawers loaded with 400 pieces of tools.

Was tempted with one of these but just assumed they would be *****, looks like maybe I was wrong?

Went with Halfords Advanced modular setup in the end, very happy!

if you've now invested in halfords advanced modular set up - you'll be well set....... that was my plan if i didnt take a punt on one of these.... but when i looked at the halfords black friday deals on the cabinets alone - i figured it was worth a punt on one of these instead.

will see how it goes, and how the cabinet itself holds up...... but I tend to only do a biot of work on light race cars or motorbikes.. so its not likely to get any relaly heavy work, nor great volume of work

Anyone else had experience with these? Tempted to get one as a starter to keep things organised. Have boxes of random sockets, spanners or tools but want something that can be found at hand. Does £300 get you a decent set of tools?

That looks good, hard to go wrong at that money for casual use. I've Sealey American cabinets but little /no organising trays and a mish mash of tools, borderline shambolic tbf.

Guessing you can’t pick the trays you want? Some of the trays I don’t think I’d ever use. Suppose for the cheaper versions you can’t complain.

I seen one way before Christmas that I think had a tray with a few car serving type tools like oil filter wrench that would be handy.

To me this is a waste of a tray, there’s not much in it to start and I don’t even know what these are for...
