i'm looking at getting a nice 12incher as i'm gonna get round to tackling the boot install

so what would people recommend?

i'm looking at buying a JL 12W3 from someone on the site ;) but i'm up to good suggestions - i'm not looking to get bouonced out of the car, just some good, loud decent bass to compliment the car.

i'm running a KVT725DVD HU and audiobahn front components, standard rear door speakers.

cheers

TBH i dont know alot abotu sounds..

ALthough i have been told the sub i have (Pioneer TSW121 SPL) is really quite good!

U can actually pick these up for about £100 - NEW!

I paid £100 for mine second hand (although it had NEVER been used) about a year ago and its bloody great! And recently ive just bought a 2nd second hand one from mr bob kennedy - plus his amp so when I get everything wired in it should be good!

Anyway.........PIONEER! :p

JL actually produce a prefabricated effort for the golf.

Id stand by JL all day long. Lyons also, he swapped his alpine R's for JLW3v2's and he is a happier man for it. They require so little power to be driven at a more than adequate rate.

Obviously the W6 or W7 would be lovely, but realistically, they require both too much money and too much space.

Kenwood KAC-PS401M Mono Block

Maximum power output
1200 Wat 14.4V 2 Ohms

Rated - output - power
200 W at 12 V 4 Ohms 20 Hz - 20 kHz 0.05% THD
400 W at 12 V 2 Ohms 1 kHz 0.5% THD
300 W at 14.4 V 4 Ohms 20 Hz - 20 kHz 0.05% THD
600 W at 14.4 V 2 Ohms 1 kHz 0.5% THD

this is the amp i'll be using so does it make things any clearer?

what will this run nicely i'm sure it'll power a W3??

Itd prob run about 4 of them to be honest. Lyons for example is running 2 from a 300W alpine mono. Wattage swattage, nothing but a sales pitch.

it fried a 10" pioneer, so i thought it should handle a W3

indeed. pimp, my amp is far from top of the range, and even looks like it could no way power 1 let alone 2 JL's, but oh my does it kick. not as much as boydies RE's obviously, but for us older, wiser folk- i guarantee it would be more than ample.

id recommend the RE SE
agreed x5

What he said...

Or the R.E. XXX... *Dribble*

the XXX needs a lot of power and a massive box remember

sealed up a xxx doesnt need a big box eg recomended box according to the re site for a 12xxx is 0.8 cu ft but they do eat a lot of watts
