Did you know that the little 4 bolted cover just forward of the shifter on the MX5 gearbox is an alternative shifter position? Not used it myself yet but saw retropower use it on their Morris minor project. Needs a pin drilled into the selector shaft at the forward position and the shift tower moved to the new position.

Might save you elongating the tunnel hole.

I did not know that. Tunnel has already been modified to suit lol but I'll keep that in mind for next time

One of the issues I encountered on initial fitment was the mx5 sump doesn't clear the original subframe. So we got busy modifying and strengthening. Now clears nicely and we can get gears too

Made up some homemade engine mounts from Transit bushes pressed into heavy pipe. Welded up and fits like a dream now the subframe is modded and strengthened. Also made mounting plates to weld to and got everything tacked into place.

Subframe has been blasted and new wings arrived

Rear axle has rubbed down, repainted from yellow to black and polybushed ready to be fitted.

Pretty picture heavy but rear arches have been welded on, spare wheel well fixed, new chassis rail and drivers floor pan welded in.

New sills still to be welded on and I'm converting from the rectangular headlamps to the twin rounds for this project so there's some bracketry involved in getting that to work too.

I got a lot of Viva/Magnum/Firenza goodies gathered up for this project recently which I'll get photos of soon too
