2007 transit 2.2 tdci fwd not starting

Have a 2007 2.2 85bhp fwd transit that was hunting when idling and cutting out. Was very hard to start when it cut out but sometimes if left for 10-15 mins it would start first turn. Regulator in injector pump changed then it wouldn't start at all. Anyone had the same issue? Reading online it seems the wrong oil can affect the timing chain tensioner and cause this kind of issue?

Filter housing gives wild bother on these still. Eliminate that from your hunt by doing away with the filter by linking the inlet and outlet pipes from the filter head to see if that cures your ailments.

EGR, filter housing, fuel pump switch. Could be any of those.

We've one there that had two broken head bolts and acted the same way.

Update- hunting was regulator in fuel pump, not starting was completely unrelated - faulty ignition switch which would power up in positions 1&2 then drop the power when the starter was turning, £25 for a replacement from ford. Running sweet as a nut again!
