As above the amp will go straight into protection mode once the rca leads are plugged into it.

Has anyone seen this problem before?

The amp MRV-F407
Alpine MRV-F407

cant be that as this input was used for another amp this one replaced...although it could be somethin shorting out inside the terminals of the amp

got the amp for free for a mate so tryin to get it working. he has managed to gather up a fairly substantial spl setup for under 100quid running mostly alpine gear too :confounded:

Wont be the fuse as it is powering up. took the board out of the case last nite and it seems like it been apart before to be repaired. seen a couple of spots where a drop of solder has been used to bridge some connections, does the sound like a good idea? or possibly someone has dripped solder by mistake

If one of the tracks on the board was previously burnt some repairers will use a solder trail to repair it, just need to make sure it's not there for a reason before removing it.
Had an amp bring on protection light before when ever the RCA's where connected because the main 12volt supply had blown, seemed to get power from the remote turn on and was earthing through the rca's to the chasis of the radio. (Probably not the best explanation, was odd though.)

Amp fuses in that case, something people rarely check, most people just seem to check the under bonnet one.

Is there a small reset button on the amp somewhere. The type that you need a pin or something pointy to press. Might be worth checking for.

Fried subs should cause the amp to protect inself! Check for any shorts in your wiring too! Alpine used to change about £70-80 to check amps years ago! Get it sent off to them for an inspection! The V12s were and still are decent amps! I had an F400S and 2 MRV1000s!
