You would need to clip them off and soak them in it, they seem to be sold as a complete replacement sill trim unit so must be formed or bonded into the Plastic trim (on e71 X6 anyway)

Lol, mine too. Hence why even taking the 3 minutes required to do this was a challenge!

Pour/spray a bit on then leave for 30s or so, then rub off.

Spots have come back. What could I use to seal the aluminium to prevent them reappearing?

I honestly think its a done deal, you can only keep masking it once they appear.
